I heard nanos and iPod Mini's are no longer being made?? This distresses me! Someone tell me it's not true.

Just to clarify on this point, the iPod Mini has been superceded by the iPod Nano. The former is no longer in production, but the latter will be with us for some time to come.

I have never uninstalled iTunes, but I have upgraded it on many occassions and my music library has stayed intact. Your music library will be in your home folder, and uninstalling iTunes should only affect items in the library or applications folders.

Nevertheless, whenever there is a shadow of doubt (and even when there's not), you should ensure that you have an up to date backup on hand.

im too scared to uninstall iTunes. My entire music collection is on there, and if I lost it, I would most probably die. So, no uninstalling.
Noel Leeming tell me my iPod will be returned in around 10 days.

Hmmm. I am not 58 year old, not an English teacher (actually in the IT industry) and these are common use of these words...

Both of the words used are valid and commonly used words. I don't see anything wrong with them and before you ask - I'm not a 58 year old English teacher either. I'm a university student (being my primary 'job' at the moment).

While Alasta could have used the word 'depreciated' to describe the IPod Mini, he was free to use other words. In this case the word he used was probably more appropriate as the IPod Mini is being replaced with the IPod Nano.

Personally I don't see what the issue is, if you didn't understand the words there are dictionaries both online and offline which you could have used to obtain the definition. I just posted a definition from my Macs dictionary just to clarify the definitions.

Please note, I'm not trying to troll (even though it obviously looks like a troll) or trying to fuel further debate, but I find it quite strange that you'd pick out words from another users post and make such a comment on them.

Thank you, Cokemaster. I must say that, whilst it's common for trivial things to get blown out of proportion on other online forums that I visit, it's not often that this happens on Geekzone.

When I look at New Zealand based online forums, I am often shocked and dismayed by the contributors' lack of literacy skills. This contrasts with an American based forum which I frequent, where a large proportion of contributors do not speak English as their first language, yet the spelling and grammar is excellent.

It is always unfortunate when certain individuals run down others to try and compensate for their own shortcomings, but I don't take it personally. That's all I have to say about this matter.

Looking back, it seems I had a large role in blowing it out by posting those definitions. Kinda like trying to put a fire out by pouring petrol on it. But nevermind I guess.

The thread probably can be closed because the posts have gone well and truely off the orginal aim - unless there is more to discuss about the issue (IPod shuffle that is).
