Anyone else having problems ordering the wifi version from the affiliate link above? I go to enter in a shipping address and it tells me I cant buy the US version and redirects me to a different page for the non-US version..

Just on that page where it tells you it can't be shipped there's a link to select your country - follow that and you can order.

Just pre-ordered a kindle 3 wifi.. No 3G version, since I dont think i'll ever use up $50USD of 3g data by using my htc desire as a wifi AP just for downloading books. And I have wifi at home/friends places/soon at the pub ;)

I assume they only charge your CC when they ship it out?>

Not sure... Will check banking tomorrow, but I ordered a Kindle 3G + WiFi - just in case I am in a trip overseas so I can always buy a book and download for free ;-)

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Just to pre-warn people who are expecting to get all Amazon's books on their shiny new Kindle...

Only a fraction of Amazon's paperbacks are available for the Kindle (which is fair enough)
Only a fraction of Kindle books are available in the "Asia Pacific" region due to copyright restrictions. (worrying).
Kindle Restrictions

I suggest that before you splurge on a shiny Kindle you download the PC app and have a play first and ensure that the titles you want are actually available to you.

Cheers, Tim

Yeah, I don't expect to be able to buy many books. (sadly)

I've got an existing library of ebooks that i'll have to convert to pdf/mobi format instead.

Why is it that amazon/authors/publishers get with the program already and realise that they have to distribute their ebooks to every country already?

Surely they know what happens when they don't.....

That is the main thing holding me back...

Is there anyway to change your region?

That's what I've done with my iTunes account. But for the time being I will keep my Amazon account as it is...
