gsr: Is anyone else's chromecast broken (netflix & hulu not working) after the last update?
What firmware build do you have? A week or two ago my CC updated to build 16041 and I thought it was stuffed because I could not get it to go. However after closing and restarting it and the TV it's plugged into, it was ok. You may want to try that.
I read on a forum a day or so ago that Build 16664 is being progressively rolled out this week.
It's 16041. Tried rebooting and resetting. Ads on Hulu take forever to load. It might be my Internet connection if no one else is having the same problem.
Ads on hulu never play right on my smart tv on slingshot global mode but are fine on a vpn. Not tried vpn on the chromecast as I don't have my us vpn on wifi and it has no ethernet.
For what its worth build 16664 was pushed to my Chromecast a few days ago. On BigPipe ISP, I have no issues with BBC iplayer and Netflix using UnoTelly, so everything all good. I was unable to force a push of 16664 - I had to wait for it to come though.
I'm on slingshot + Unotelly. Everything other than Netflix and Hulu seems to be working fine. It looks like there's a lot of (about 19) re routing happening when I do a trace route for hulu.com and netflix.com . Hulu says if its above 13, it's not their problem.
Thanks for your inputs. Turns out that the problem was with my wifi router. I use a linksys e1200 with dd-wrt. The mixed mode doesn't work very well. Switched it to g only.
