To the OP. Did you ever get the Chamberlain? I must admit I am eyeing that myself now. Looks like it will be compatible with my garage door which is made by Merlin but on the label says technology licensed from Chamberlain Group Inc.

Looked at opengarage but can't see how that would work with two cars since it seems to want you to measure the distance between the top of the open garage door and the roof of your car and then the garage floor. But what happens if the other car is out?

I realise that the Chamberlain unit requires an annual sub to use Google Assistant but I don't really have a use case for using Assistant to control the door. Just want to be able view the door status away from home and close it I have left it open. I have to walk to garage to get the car anyway and pass the door opener on the way :-)

I have a standard chamberlain from Mitre10. It doesn't have the smarts built in. I use openGarage above one car. It tells me three things... Garage open (short distance), garage closed and family car in garage (medium distance), garage closed and family car not in garage (long distance). It opens and closes the garage door using Home Assistant.

It doesn't matter that the second car is not measured. It just means that I can't tell whether it is in or out of the garage.

Cheers, Matt

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

OK I get it now.

Do you know if there is Google Home integration? I see Alexa can work with IFTTT and I have both Dots and Google device in the house

Thanks. For my purpose the Blynk app will be good enough to check the door is open when I'm not home and close it. The Alexa integration is nice but it's hard to find a use case for that. When I go to my garage from inside the house I always walk pass the remote so it's not hard to just press it!  And of course coming home I do have automatic garage door openers in my cars.
