Cameras don't need to be plugged into the NVR POE ports to get the time settings - these are sent to the camera once it is connected to the NVR regardless of how they're connected.

Lots of time issues people report have hacked Chinese cameras with modded English firmware which don't support DST.

snnet:

FYI Gmail SMTP can be hit and miss with certain things. If google thinks something is wrong, it may stop letting some messages thru (but allow the test process to succeed) - if this is happening you'll get an alert e-mail at the address you are trying to send from though

Here is a link to the outlook.com mail settings

Don't forget to enable POP access in outlook.com's settings [actually did you do this for gmail too? I'm only assuming you did as I would think the dahua guide would mention it]

If you are trying to get your NVR to email you on motion detection be careful with this as it can absolutely flood your inbox when some mozzies or bugs appear at night when they get attracted to the IR on the cameras

Heyy,

The time is finally correcting/working!!!

I've just finished setting up the SMTP for outlook email for the Dahua NVR. Hopefully it get's alerted. Will give it a few hours for testing before reporting back.

P.S. Yep, POP I always enabled.

Do the test email arrive? Dahua have a long-standing bug in their firmware where they screw up the TLS handshake and so any correctly functioning TLS implementation will reject a connection from them. As a result, it's not possible to send email through many providers, including Gmail. Outlook.com still works, since they don't seem to care whether your TLS handshake is correct or not.

Morning all.

Looks like everything is working along with SMTP 😀. Can't believe it works only using outlook. However, can someone teach me how to set up clip Email Alerts like rather than sending snapshots, it sends video?

Google has disabled email from services that don't do OAUTH - using SMTP with username/password is being removed from their services.

Glad the timezone and time server settings worked together.

It's not the OAUTH issue, you can still get around that braindamage by allowing "less secure" auth methods, where "less secure" is defined as "whatever some geek at Google says it is". The problem specifically in the Dahua NVRs and rebadged ones like Amcrest is that their TLS implementation is broken, they send a handshake with an SCSV anti-downgrade indicator in it and then downgrade the handshake, which any correctly-functioning TLS implementation will detect as an attack and reject the handshake. This is why Google rejects it and Microsoft doesn't (note the need for a correctly-functioning TLS implementation). For once, thank God for Microsoft's insecure security code.
