This thread almost sounds like a solution looking for a problem. Back in the day of my first daughter, who's now 40, it was the wife and I who were the alert.

With wife #2 and 2 subsequent kids now 23 and 25 it was a simple RF audio monitor. For normally healthy kids don't over think or over tech it just because you can.

Just my thoughts. It's up to you to make your own risk estimates

I had started writing this up for the other thread that was started before it was locked and this one reopened....

I went with this one for our recent lockdown baby boy. It's on the expensive side, but I'm expecting to use it for the next 4-5 years. I also like the fact it's an app on our phones rather than having yet another device to carry around the house and keep charged. WAF is quite high as well.

Cubo AI - https://www.amazon.com.au/Cubo-Plus-Smart-Baby-Monitor/dp/B08BFFYZWW (Amazon currently has $90 discount coupon as well)

It's worked really well for us so far, and the integration with my Echo Show 8 makes it easy to keep an eye on things while we're watching TV, etc. The notifications are solid, alerting us when he cries or the camera can't see his face for whatever reason (which picked up the time he was trying to wiggle his arms out of his swaddle and managed to pull it up over his mouth), when the room gets too hot or cold, etc. And now that he's sleeping more through the night the analytics are becoming interesting - he might not wake up fully or want a feed, but it shows how many times he stirs and how long is he actually asleep for.

One nice little feature is that it saves random images and videos to a 'moments' wall each day. It's picked up some cute moments that we may have otherwise missed. It also has white noise and lullabies, as well as a nightlight, which we use quite often.

I've only had one issue to date, where the analytics stopped working. Their support was great - not only did I have a response within an hour (and fixed with a simple reboot), but importantly they collected some more info so they could perform further troubleshooting and debuging on their end. A couple of weeks later they had a firmware update to improve connection stability. Not sure if it was related to the issue I had, but at least it seems they have a commitment to improving their product.

A downside is that 'premium' features like sleep tracking and moments wall requires a sub (first year is free). I might renew for year 2, but probably won't after that. Good thing is that all the base features like cry detection, danger zones, etc. don't need the sub.
