Did you turn to a different tablet ? or a laptop ? or just everything via phone ?

I assume you were trying to hot-spot via your phone more than using (un)available wifi ?

All via mobile after "dumping" the tablet. It is slightly tedious, still better than running out of patience and being frustrated.

One less thing to worry about forgetting.

Exactly.

Next time it'll have to be a small laptop, though these are pricey.

Thank you.

I guess if battery life isn't a major concern, a good used (off-lease, maybe) laptop might be the answer.
