Great little device that could render the projector useless in meetings, presentations etc.

I have got my USA based family to pick me one up from BestBuy.
Selling like hot cakes though.

The little things make the biggest difference.

Interesting thought:

The company that won the rights to stream the English Premier League (beating Sky) could simply hook into the Chromecast API and add a button to their web-player, in fact they could provide the Chromecast within the subscription. (as an option). At this stage Google does not recommend streaming Chrome-tabs with video, so it would have to be done 'officially'.

Opens up a lot of potential if this gets into a lot of homes.

Good to know they can be powered by an HDMI 1.4 compliant port.

If only I could work out if my TV has one

Chromecast solves a big problem for PLP if they get cracking on this.

Just grabbed one on Google Play with NZPost Youshop so it'll be interesting to see when I get it. Still $35 there, but no mention of Netflix :(.

Still a pretty good deal...

May the farce be with you!

Wow people so desperate to make money on Amazon that the prices have gone to $70! It'll probably go back down to $35 once Amazon have it in stock i.e sold by Amazon.

Unless you use Microsoft Powerpoint for presentations in which case you would still need the projector... unless you use Google docs?

I have an old sony Bravia and I can't barely find a reference to that TV via search engines... Some of the manufacturers are really bad at disclosing specifications.

sonyxperiageek: Oh and not sure if I'll be able to redeem more than one free 3-months of Netflix if I buy more Chromecasts..?

And if post #15 from this Canadian thread is anything to go by you are not going to be able to cast Netflix to it anyway as we have to use UnoTelly on Unblock US or a VPN here in NZ and this post from Canada is suggesting that ChromeCast did not like that.

I will just stick with my 7m HDMI cable from my iPad to TV.
