I’m going to go to The Warehouse. They price match plus 10% discount. They have them for $109 and PB has them for $107. Both are close to me so it’s not a bother for the $20 savings on two units. They probably price match online with live chat too.

10% is gone from them now. There was another thread about it. Just making themselves less and less relevant to shopping IMO.

Oh weird it just showed up when I checked. Must’ve loaded an old page.

The listed paypal for payments on the site for months after it was stopped so I suspect they don't really have a full crew maintaining the site.

Have a look if you can get it thru the market instead with a deal, because that seems to be where they are pushing their efforts now.

I also have a Veon and with my CcwGTv the IR works with some weird brands in the list. Maybe the FireTV will also. If you search in these forums there’s chat about it somewhere. That’s what help me set mine up. Might be worth a shot.

Thanks for reminding me to search that. I found Akai, Infiniton and Coocaa brands mentioned as IR matches to Veon, will try and report back.

None worked :-( Coocaa and Infiniton weren’t available options.

Does Firestick support casting from Google Photos on Android phone? I'm seeing conflicting information.

You could try Skyworth, it is the manufacturer of CooCaa. I have a feeling it will work for one of volume or power not both.

Edit: Metz is owned by Skyworth try if it's there

Hopefully something works then! It’s such a pain having a bunch of remotes sitting there. Grumble.

I think it's God's way of telling me to go buy a Sony/LG/Samsung! 😄

IainD: Can I ask is Disney +, Spark Sport, Netflix etc all pre loaded onto the stick ?

Not pre-loaded, but it is extremely easy to install them - it even prompts you for them so you don't have to go looking for them.

As it is an Amazon product, it helps to have an Amazon account before you start. Also, there was a fairly lengthy period of the stick downloading a set the latest system updates and rebooting between each one.

I have a no-name (Veon) TV and the FireTV doesn't know the IR codes for it and failed to find them with the built-in trial and error attempt. For now, I have to switch the TV off with its own remote. If you have a better known Sony/LG/Samsung/Panasonic etc you can put the TV remote away.

I also need to grab an optical cable to link in the soundbar. Again, because I have odd-ball stuff, I am not optimistic about controlling the soundbar volume with the FireTV remote.

I no longer have a Veon TV, but seem to recall I had some success setting up remote as an Akai. Worth a try.....

Annoyingly AMCplus does not seem to be able to be loaded, I especially wanted (and have bought) the bundle with AcornTV and Shudder.

Selecting AMC plus app just gets Shudder

I have one with UK/UK/NZ apps

You have a distinct Amazon account for the devices and you change the region. Once apps are added they stay in your Amazon account and can still be accessed. No need to reset the device.

Took me a week to try it but that worked a treat. Gone through and added three and all the aussie apps while I was playing. I've got the TVNZ app but doesn't work on my model as its not one they sell here, at least it's there if I change the stick out at some point

If you have selected older Fire TV Sticks including the 4K model you should find that the TVNZ official APK now installs. I reached out to their team and they've updated the profile to include a number of additional models.

  • Fire TV Stick 4K
  • Fire TV Stick Lite
  • Fire TV Cube 2nd Gen
  • Fire TV Stick 2nd Gen

I have a problem with mine that has just started in the last couple of days: skysportnow won't show program guide or play content. It says "no licences available" on the account page. It is only a problem on this device. iPhone app on phone is fine, as is https://www.skysportnow.co.nz/ on web.

I suspect it has decided it is not in NZ so not geographically licensed for the content? Not sure how to get around this one nor why it stopped working. Have logged the fire tv app out and also uninstalled and re-installed it, rebooted etc... It is signed in with an amazon account that is setup with New Zealand as location.

Anyone seen this issue?

FireTV 4K Max has micro-usb for power supply. That could be a pain. Can anyone tell me the length of the power cable that comes with 4K Max?
