Limitless has kindly offered to send me the current version of the bridge which I will be trying out.

I suspect the issue with the last one is in its DHCP handling. I was often finding it was offline, and another device had got its IP address, similar issues to what I was seeing on broken arduino ethernet shield code that didnt ever renew its DHCP lease after the time was up. I never bothered to faultfind it beyond that because I wasnt really that bothered by not having the app available to control it, and I couldnt be bothered to impliment anything to automate them, so the handheld remotes worked just fine.

Once the new bridge gets here I will give it another shot and see if it works OK with a 15 min DHCP lease duaration or if other devices get assigned the IP it had because it doesnt maintain it or drops out or whatever.

I'd be interested to hear what you find. I always had a static address reserved for mine yet it would fall of the wireless every few days. In my Arduino version, I don't look at what the lease time is, but I did add some code that calls the dhcp "maintain" method every 10 mins which renews or extends the lease (which again is reserved on the router). Since doing this, it always shows up in the router dhcp table (before it used to expire but because it was reserved, nobody else could steal the IP).

Mine was still showing as a device in the unifi control panel, with its IP address still there, just dead to the network. I didnt go giving it a reservation or anything because I shouldnt need to as I am not port fowarding to it.

I might re-setup my really old one that doesnt do N and see how it goes reliability wise. I dont recall any issues with it other than needing its own AP as it lacked N.

It's working fine.

I took the DHCP server down for a while and it came back online when it was a to get an IP again without a power cycle which is something the old one didn't do.

Funnily enough it's wifi module comes up in the software for one of my rgb wifi strips software too. Both have hi flying wifi radios in them.

Hamish, the 5.0 instructions still show 4.0. Are there any instructions for the 5.0? Just wanting to work out if I should get one or not (my 4.0's have no problems).

yeah I thought someone might notice that. The normal user would not see any difference, but an advanced user using the web admin, the windows7 admin app, or the cloud server settings from the windows7 admin app will notice the differences. And those advanced features are not covered by the standard user guide anyway as they are very techy.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have about those features. They do not provide you anything more if your v4 ones are working perfectly. Are you running wireless n/ac or wireless-G only?

v. cool video showing the PWM effects of the colour changes, but yeah that red led diode chip itself in the bulb has stopped working. It happens on less than 0.3% of bulbs. Send me an email hamish (at) limitlessled.com and i will send you out a free replacement.

We just had some feedback from Steve on the new v5 wifi bridges - seems all is well even on those networks with apple products now.

I have installed the 2 new wifi controllers on my network and they are working flawlessly on WiFi which is great. I have a Asus ac66u router and I also have a airport extreme that I use as an access point in bridge mode.

After reading through this and watching the prices of things i've ordered a range of Limitless stuff for the home and office to play with. We're pretty picky at work so it'll be interesting to see how they compare to what we've had to play with before.

Has anyone tried the GU10 bulbs? I didn't order any to test but we have a number of clients who would consider switching out the bulbs into their existing fittings.

Like most Gu10 led they are longer. Only put them onto some clamp lamps from bunnings and the face is a little sticking out the front but light the shelves up well. No issues with them at all.
