It seems that 'Oh Bubbles' may be locally used branding, and very similar to products labelled Twenty39 and FizzPod overseas. Obviously they've not been around as long as the SodaStream brand. I'll mull it over tonight and see what tomorrow brings.

Ended up getting an oh bubbles unit from Harvey Norman, the bottle cap/slow release is nice. Still figuring out durations of fizzing tho as seem to be getting consistently low fizz or fizz that goes flat in a short time

I generally go for three decent pushes as I like it pretty carbonated, but it is heavily affected by the water level in the bottle. I do find it gets through the gas quickly, though.

While it is possible to recarbonate drinks, it is still prone to overflowing if not very careful. I tried putting bubbles back in a flattish bottle of sparking sauvignon blanc the other day and that worked pretty well.  Next trial is going to be sparkling red wine, just to see what it’s like!

My favourite drink with the Oh Bubbles machine, though, is definitely cucumber and mint - store the bottle in the fridge with chopped cucumber and a few mint leaves and carbonate it when ready to drink. Most refreshing drink ever. Well, other than a G&T, that is!

Speaking of which, do any brands make a diet tonic syrup? Sodastream used to a few years back, but all the ones I see around today are solely sugar-based.

Has anyone researched alternative methods of filling the gas bottles?

Such as:
https://www.brewshop.co.nz/freedomone-sodastream-adapter-hose-72inch.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA5t-OBhByEiwAhR-hmyOiY_OCNAsgocq1yg1E3_Nzl0ftrrmWel3y0pbxwiHCnbJsgJdZIBoC9oQQAvD_BwE

Or there are some adaptors you can fill your own bottles from a co2 bottle (possibly only works on older style gas bottles)

@esawers: this was discussed earlier in the thread; a few years old now, but I imagine it still is a viable method?

Have a look at SodaMod. Essentially a food grade paintball tank, with an adapter to convert to the Sodastream, you can fill with Co2 at a gun store for much less than a Sodastream refill
