My SkyConnect adapter arrived a few weeks ago but since I'm running HA as a VM on Hyper-V, I needed an additional PCI-E USB controller to pass through to the HA VM. That finally arrived last week (I kinda forgot I had the SkyConnect on order until it arrived and hadn't picked up the USB controller ahead of time) so installed it into my host server this morning and added it to the VM via DDA. HA was a little weird on its first boot and I needed to repair the Supervisor but after that it came back to life.

I added the ZHA integration and it immediately found the SkyConnect. I was then able to remove the window/door sensors from the Aqara hub that I had and added them to the ZHA integration. Another cloud connected device removed!

Dashboard coming along nicely - temp sensors color and glow adjust according to temp ranges, RBG lights now work according to color of the light and fans etc spin.

Lots of my cards are dynamic, so will change color or flash or go dull depending on state and what needs to be done.

The HA runs in a container on a Pi 3, with it's wifi as an dedicated and isolated HA network, so the IOT devices dont get external internet access.

I use RS485 devices connected via a tcp gateway with cat5 cable and 24v DC for power.

The RS485 bus includes a mains current clamp in the meter box, indoor, outdoor and ceiling temperature sensors and multiple relay boards for the irrigation system.

Wifi connected devices are reflashed with Tasmota using MQTT, and include power plug metering and switches for electric blankets and the Xaiomi vacuum.

Current projects to extend this are home made rs485 temp & moisture sensors for the irrigation system, HRV control and IR controls for heat pumps.

Does anyone have recommendations for reasonable accurate humidity sensors to connect to ESP32 etc? I've got a BME280 module, but the humidity doesn't seem to be accurate (perhaps its a fake or damaged?)

Found some good reviews of the AHT20 and AHT21, so might try them.

I used the AM2302 or AM2320 in the past when I still tinkered and made my own boards - about 3-5 years ago.

With more kids and less time, I started buying already-made aqara products 😝

Other than phillips hue plugs, are there any other zigbee plugs in NZ that are certified here? I couldn't locate any when I did a search on the weekend.

I've only dabbled with AM2302 and BME280. I prefer the latter as the former (in sunny Auckland) seem to often get stuck at 99.9%.
Not saying I haven't had problems with them, but I think that was me running them off 5v not 3.3v. ESP32 and ESP8266.

THey're still good though and are pre-flashed with Tasmota so give you easy and full local control and power monitoring.

How do you tell on the listing that' they're certified here?

Uh, my understanding is that they aren't. The older (unsafe) version wasn't compliant with any electrical standards here and had a pretty serious flaw. The newer model is at least C-Tick certified and safer, however I don't think anyone has an SDOC to import and sell them here legally.

EDIT: I might also add that the ones pictured in the Amazon listing are the old model (CE certification mark). Buy at your at your own risk. I'd be purchasing the latest direct from Athom if you're still keen to use them.

Good to know, I'm currently using the Kogan smart plugs with energy monitoring, the older ones and whilst they work and im pretty sure they're certified, the wifi connection on them isn't great so just looking to replace these
