I found another use for a spare rgbw bulb. I grab the flickelectric spot price and turn the colour of the bulb to reflect the price. So, blue is cheap, and red is expensive. And I then know what my power cost currently is without using their app.

I think the bulb I have is 9W, and I should get something of less Wattage so as not to waste power.

They are noway near 9w when on RGB without adding in white. I think I saw about 1.4 when I measured it.

I guess the red is getting a workout for you at the moment with flicks pricing going insane.

Good to know about the Wattage. This is one of the older bulbs which I don't think has a separate white.

And it's a nice blue colour at present while the price is 18c per kWh.

Do any of you have one of these older WiFi bridges kicking around?

Mine died and I upgraded to one of the newer ones, but none of my home automation stuff works with the newer bridge.

i do .. plugged it off though..wanting to replace with something better for remote control and access (better product, similar price)

Hmm, tempted to buy one of those, been running the alexa integration via ha-bridge but this might tidy that up a bit

It arrived today. In short, dont buy any of the milight wifi gear. Will do a longer post later but thought I would give a headsup incase someone was about to press the button on it.

Ok so the new devices us an app called milight cloud. It seems hit and miss if the app can talk to their server, seems that it may be in china based on the erratic nature of it (too lazy to look into it) - when its not working there is constant on screen notifications appearing in chinese or sometimes bad english about not logging in. When like that the list will go empty so even on the same network I cannot see the devices.

The light on the wifi to milight base will be solid on (which is good) but it is offline in the app. It will come online by closing the app totally and restarting it.

Like most of these chinese smart home products, its a single login at a time, but the one that gets kicked out doesnt get any notification its kicked out, just stops working till you re start the app up when it is logged out and needs logging in.

Alexa support is flakey at best, get told that its offline when its showing online in the app and vice versa. Probably a stupid location for a cloud server again.

The wifi gateway only does a single lot of lamps, not even the 4 zones that the last one did. Just a single one and it learns to the lamps like the other one does. Not looked at if its using all lights or one of the zones to control it.

You can only choose one remote type in the app, and changing that messes up the alexa control till its re-added. I lost white as an option because I chose an RGB remote and it took removing it and readding it after choosing the right remote to get alexa able to set white.

The range is trash compared to a remote or the old gateways.
