robjg63:

If you log in to into amazon.com.au and click "Account and lists" at the top right, and click the dropdown link for "Manage your content and devices"

Click "Preferences" on the horizontal menu and then "Country/Region settings".

Is your country showing as NZ? If not can you change it and save.

Does it let you at the TVNZ app now?

The horizontal menu doesn't even show up. I had to change to my US account to get that menu, so I changed my region there. Maybe it takes a while to push through, as I still can't access the TVNZ app. Strange.

I've just noticed that all my Amazon devices (multiple Alexa units) are all registered under the American account. Including the Fire Stick. The Fire Stick is the only one I can see under my Aussie account. What a headache.

Ok, seems to have pushed through now; I have TVNZ and ThreeNow. Just need Neon and I'll be much happier. Thank you! What a convoluted process though.

last time I touched my country to do with amazon my alexas started talking Australian and I had to get them to change it back. Not risking that again just to get TVNZs app on my devices.

Omg, now my TV remote has stopped responding and the Fire Stick doesn't actually turn off? I can't turn my TV off either. Think I might be going back to the CcwGTV, which is a shame as the Fire Stick is faster.

Hi,

Has anyone managed to install the ThreeNow app onto a 2nd gen Fire TV Stick?

Location is correct as I have installed TVNZ, Skysport Now.

I have installed ThreeNow onto my 4K (non max) fire stick without any problems.

Thanks John

ThreeNow is working fine for me. It's SkySportNow that used to work until I broke it but now can't make work at all. I even reset the FireTV Stick to factory and started from scratch.

Can the Amazon account used for FireTV sign in be different to my Prime TV account or will it always use the Amazon FireTV account for Prime TV?

FireStick TV unboxing and initial setup experience. Arrived from Dick Smith. Mine is Japan sourced. Japanese packaging.

Aas part of that...Two pin straight plug adaptor Low profile travel adaptor supplied. It was a little difficult to get the adaptor past the safely protectors first time and it can wiggle easily. I can understand why they are banned in NZ. Low risk for low power anyway so I will use it without concern. Remote has buttons Prime, Netflix, DAZN, ABEMA. No idea yet if those will reassign to Disney as the usual for USA.

The Amazon supplied USB cable was about a meter too short for my tv mount. I used a usb2 extension it seems to be working alright.

The remote is longer compared to Google and others.

Only two steps during initial setup. I chose language Australia and connected to wifi. It did not like my wps for some reason could be my config, connected fine with creds. From there it starts auto update. Approx 30 minutes including several auto reboots. Now prompting for Amazon account. TBC

So a parallel imported then, not a A/NZ SKU?

Interested to know if it recognises being in NZ and allows TVNZ, Sky Sport, ThreeNow, etc.

Why didn't you buy from a NZ retailer?

Correct. It is not entirely unexpected. Having said that - the website says International Version. Japanese is not exactly an international language lol. In practice all the setup is English and not a problem.

This does not worry me. It would be handy. I'll let you know the outcome.

I have credit at Dick Smith from a previous return. Overall I''m very happy with Dick Smith shipping and service myself so far, although I'm aware there have been one or two rants on geekzone here and there.

If it helps at all I'm running a US 4K (not max) and the only issue I had last week was my Amazon account was set to UK and tvnz had initially locked their app off anything that wasn't the models being sold here. Both of these have been resolved now by changing my accounts region and tvnz updating their availability.

It seems to be your Amazon account determines the regional settings and availability more than anything, then each app has the obvious checks for where are you based that a vpn usually works around. Been great that by bouncing my Amazon account from UK to aus then here I now have a stick that has a VPN installed and can get all the apps from all the regions on my TV, just set the NZ apps to ignore the vpn and can swap between aus and UK on the fly as needed.

A review unit landed here yesterday. I have an Amazon AU account but my main account is an Amazon US - I have Prime, movies and Kindle books on that account.

Logged into the new Amazon Fire Stick 4K using my Amazon AU account and installed the local apps. I then switched to my Amazon US account and the installed apps still work, and now I have my digital content, Prime US and the NZ apps.

This also means I can't take advantage of promotions like 2degrees Amazon Prime Video for a year, but I do have access to Freevee (free movies and series with ads, previously IMDB TV), which is not a service available in New Zealand.

Found Japan model does allow install of those apps. Btw, I initially had an issue with install of any app. FireStick account settings on web showed an NZ address correctly and I had to select that again before it worked. There were also issues with an update unfinished solved with manual update. Then a couple of menu reboots until it showed and allowed NZ provider apps.

Continuing my initial setup. Remote with my Veon TV works with Skyworth as expected. CooCaa brand is not in the list. As expected HDMI selection is not available.
