My Echo is up an running, I like it already.

I used he above method (and a similar one where you have to change certain values in a specific order), it updated the timezone correctly so time requests now work, and it updated temperature and distance....but changes to label or any of the address fields are not accepeted anymore as the response is always that the value is a violation of address area. I can resort to asking "What is the weather in OCKLand New Zealand" to get the local weather. I noticed that timezone doesn't cover all options, if I ask for the next occurrence of a sporting event then the time stated will always be the one which corresponds to the given address.

it's a work in progress at least.

My dot arrived this morning and is sitting on my desk at work ready to be tested out, but we've got a day full of meetings and I'm not sure having Alexa pipe up about what the weather or time is would be a good look in the open office layout we have...

I only encountered address violation issues when the timezone was not set correctly. In fact, i've not encountered any bad request messages at all when changing any of the settings, after the time zone. All the responses I got were 'null' so have only assumed they set correctly. I guess i'll have to wait and see if I can find a chance to tinker before this evening.

I did buy one of the 'cases' for it and am pretty happy with it. It's not going to be manhandled a lot so build quality is somewhat irrelevant, but it is nice.

Scratch that. I must not have been sending the curl properly. And after a bit of googling, Amazon are now validating all addresses so we can't change anything except the time zone.

I've been tinkering with the Skill - Big Sky. Gotta say, it's not as easy as asking what the weather is naturally, but saying 'Alexa open Big Sky' and having it tell me a detailed weather report based off the Dark Sky weather api is quite nice. The api gives the skill the ability to also ask it things like whether it will rain in the next three hours, or wind speed etc.

Has anyone got Pandora or iHeartRadio to connect to their Echo? They're missing on my Echo Dot although I can see their options greyed out in the settings for default station service.

What little info I can find online tells me that I need a US address in my Amazon account (easily done) and then the options should show up for me in the app/webpage. However I get nothing.

I've tried using a VPN to connect to the service/app via a US server but that still shows nothing available.

Thoughts?

I have the address set to somewhere in Miami.
I only changed the Timezone, as nothing else can be changed in the Echo for us right now.

This did it. Although I now have to change my wife's account to a US address so we can continue having a family account.

I see now Logitech have Harmony remote support for the Amazon echo. It only works of course with hub based remotes which use ethernet but it could be useful. I only think that the way to invoke the commands can be a bit wordy. It would be nice if you could say Alexa turn on the TV rather than what you have to say.

If you have a spare Raspberry Pi, you can install ha-bridge (dead easy) that will allow you to connect your Harmony Hub to both GH and Alexa as I have done. Now I just say, "Alexa, turn on Sky" and it works a treat.

All I say is "Alexa turn on the TV" or " ... turn off the TV" and it works as expected.

I do have HABridge running and also s Harmony hub but it's still in a box:-). I currently run an IR Harmony remote.

What do you have to do to expose the hub to HABridge?
