The Studio has five speakers and supports Dolby Atmos. I think you will find one of it is good - but if you have a large room you can add the speakers to the multi-room setup. In this configuration they all play together - not in stereo but in sync. The speakers will then use surround sound as supported.

The problem with the multiroom on echo devices is how long it takes to add and remove things from a group, you cant just ask them to play along with another speaker or similar. Ive taken to just having a group of all the echos to play spotify on and turning down the one in the shed and garage when I am not out there.

I don't think it is too long - and I don't see add/remove all the time as a priority use case. You can always set the volume lower for different devices or just tell them to stop.

As of this evening Alexa's 'Brief Mode' is not working for me any more. At least as far as I can tell. In brief mode (which i still have enabled) when i tell Alexa to turn off or on a light it just makes an accompanying 'ding' sound when it completes the command. As of this evening she has started saying "OK" again for some reason. I have checked and the setting is still enabled. I have tried turning on and off to no avail. I don't want it saying OK all the time.....

Heads up Spotify free can now be used to stream on Amazon Echo devices.

Yes, I've started to get "OK's" as well and haven't changed any settings.

Being a little lazy here, but if our In-laws have an echo show, but we don't have our contacts merged with Amazon in any way, how do I call their echo show?

I don't think you can. I found out the easiest way, between using one and another for calling, was using Facebook Portal. It calls to/from Messenger on phone, tablet, computer or between devices. And everyone have Facebook these days.

Not my In-Laws :)

Actually, it didn't really need anything particularly. My FIL is in my phone contacts and despite not being synced (supposedly) it was able to make the call by me saying:

Call (insert name) on his echo show.

Both Grandparents and Kids were delighted to see each other.

Hoping to get connected to my kids cousins the same way this afternoon.

I have been using a routine to access Radio New Zealand National with TuneIn as the music source. It recently started playing the Concert programme instead.

After exploring different ways of playing a specific url (and finding it too hard) I came back to using TuneIn. I managed to get it to play RNZ by asking for RNZ National Auckland.

Whew.

Play Radio

Set volume to 2

Say "Playing Radio New Zealand"

Play RNZ National Auckland from TuneIn
