Now when  I ask for Flash Briefing, it only plays the first item in the list I have set up in briefings. I have NewsTalkZB set up, and it plays that (not the sports news any more), and won't play Alexa's weather briefing. If I reverse them in the list it plays the weather but no news. It's probably due to an update. I hate forced updates. If it were up to me, it would be possible to stop them.

I had a problem with NPR taking over when I asked for "whats new" which previously gave me the flash briefing. Caused me no end of trouble, no matter what I did with the Flash briefing setting the NPR app with a million stories started up.

My only fix has been to ask Alexa for "Flash briefing". Not sure if this is similar to what you are experiencing.

Thanks. Yes, I ask for a flash briefing and it plays the first item I have in my list for briefings, but won't play any other items after, like the weather. Is messed up. I blame it on updates.

I've had the same thing a couple of times now and found that restarting the echo fixes the problem.

Makes no sense but *shrug*. I had the problem ages ago and then it just went away. It came back and nothing worked but after a reboot presto. I figure the first time that it must have installed an update or we had a power outage or something.

Thanks! That seemed to fix it. Don't know why I didn't think of doing that..

I only just discovered this thread. Love my Echos. The Amazon Echo gen. 2 is far far better than the Amazon Echo Dot gen. 3 for picking up my voice. A LOT better.

The Metservice skill is annoying,eh? Biggest issue is that it doesn't just answer my query and exit. But it asks if there's anything else and waits for a valid response.

So, I have my new Studio Paired with my FireTV Stick 4K. It works brilliantly, except  I have two things which are annoying me.

1) Everytime I play something like music "alexa play rock music" my TV turns on. I don't want that.

2) For some reason, I can't use my Senn Wireless Headphones, connected via optical cable any longer in preference to the Studio. Most of the time I use my headphones, only when my wife isn't in bed yet am I using the speaker.  I suspect it's because the Optical is connected to the TV, and the Studio is paired to the FireTV.

Anyone got any ideas on how I can get this working better?

For problem 1, this will be HDMI CEC. If there are settings to disable this in the Firestick, I would disable it.

You can also disable it in your TV (perhaps there are individual HDMI CEC features you can disable in the TV). It goes by various names depending on the TV brand.

If you completely disable HDMI CEC in the TV, you'll lose HDMI ARC most likely (if you use that feature).
