Yesterday I got the email saying my Chromecast would be shipped end of October. Got a new one today from Amazon

"Dear Amazon.com Customer,

Thank you for your recent Chromecast purchase. Earlier today, you received an email indicating an incorrect estimated order delivery of late October. We are actively fulfilling orders weekly based on customer order date and all customers who placed orders prior to August 7 should receive their orders in the coming weeks and into mid-September. We will notify you as soon as your item ships and apologize for the confusion.

We hope to see you again soon!

Amazon.com"

Regards,

Old3eyes

Mine is now somewhere over the Pacific. NZ Post should deliver it sometime this coming week.

Mine is on the way to youshop. I am stuck in a course for the next few weeks so it will probably sit in the box. Have to figure out if the Vodafone hg556a will do DNS redirecting..

Sounds like it's been a boon for YouShop! The Chromecast was my first Youshop order

Oh and my Chromecast has been dispatched from the YouShop warehouse! Yay, don't have to wait until the 13th for dispatch (original estimate).

Has anyone got the chromecast to work with an iphone or ipad or is jailbreaking required?

Works on both. No jailbreaking required.

Got the Chromecast units here today and as expected Netflix won't work, even though it plays just fine on the tablet with Hola. Sending content from YouTube and Chome browser (desktop) work just fine.

Another annoyance is how the Chromecast app is not actually available outside the USA in the standard Google Play Market, only through third party downloads. A bit disappointing this bit.

Also you have to use its own USB power source. I have plenty of USB wall chargers here but none worked, so I had to use a NZ - US adapter and plugged its original one and that worked just fine...

It appears like most of your so-called annoyances are caused by the fact you've purchased a product that is currently only available (and thus only supported in) the USA.

From the reviews and use-cases I'm reading from within the USA it sounds like this could be a very powerful little piece of hardware, it sounds like it is very easy to add the button to an existing app.
