For anyone who is interested, I see that The Warehouse has an online-only special for Kindle Wi-Fi for $149. They call it a Parallel Import 'Sponsored Version', in that it displays some sort of ads on the screen when it is turned off.

Here is what the blurb says -

This product is parallel imported sourced from the US Market. Special offers and sponsored screensavers that display when you're not reading may not be applicable in New Zealand and any prices quoted are in US dollars. Brand manufacturers may manufacture products internationally to varying specifications. Accordingly, some product variations may exist.

Looks like it is only available today (the 8th), so if you wanted one, you'd have to get in quick.

[
Edit] - Originally I said this was a Kindle Touch, but it doesn't look like a Touch - just a Wi-Fi.

Hi this is the Kindle Wifi (sponsored version) selling @ US$79 at Amazon

However they actually do ship the new Kindle Touch Wifi direct to NZ now and the total cost is around NZ$190 delivered to door so still not a bad deal.

You can get the add-less touch for $201 including 2-4 day delivery, not sure why people would want to save $2 to have 1/8th of teh screen covered in adverts

And you can get that from our Amazon Kindle order page (actually anything from Amazon, not only Kindle).

Do you have a similar link but to the Amazon home page?  Or is the only way to help GZ get kickbacks is via the Kindle page?

That's more like it.  Will bookmark.  Thanks.

Out of curiousity, does Geekzone get anything if a Kindle bought via the referral link purchases via the on-device store? Or has Amazon made that so we can't support our favourite site by that means?

We don't get anything if you buy content from a Kindle you bought through our link.

What you have to do is to use the same Amazon Kindle order page and click the link to the books. You can use that same link to get into the Amazon store and buy anything - we get a commission on anything else. Last month someone in the US bought pet food, and some people bought Lego through our link. We received commission on those ;)
