hi there,

Maybe you can help!  My creative zen touch was experiencing the problem of the controls needing to be pressed very hard in order to get it to do anything. On contacting creative support they advised to download the latest Firmware and to Format the disc and reinstall Firmware and reboot.

This all worked to the point of reinstalling the firmware.  When the firmware installation programme asks me to connect (my now blank player) it never recognises that the player is connected.

I contacted creative support but they just told me that it was out of warrenty  and that if the player wasnt being recognised by either my pc or laptop that there was nothing that they could do.  Except advise me to buy a new player with a helpful link to their store!!!!

Is there anything that can be done???  Anyway around this problem.  Creative said it must be a hardware problem.  What ever the case is this player salvagable or am i destined to buying another player??????/

Thanks,
Stephen

I had this same problem with my Zen Touch 20Gb, I got around it by taking the firmware installation program and Zen touch to another machine (one that the zen touch had never been connected to before...ever...) and then just proceeded with the normal installation. Don't ask me why it works, I never had enough time to look at it in-depth, all i know is that it worked for me and it may work for you! Tongue out

Good luck fellow zen touch user!

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I tried that with a friends laptop and didn't have any luck but i'll try another pc before i sell it cheap for parts!!!  Hopefully it works.  Would prefer to get it back up and running instead of having to buy another one!

Thanks again!!

Stephen
