Hey guys,
I am already using Ubquiti's UniFi and Airvision and saw mFi has just been released:

I was thinking of getting a mPort to test it out and see how well it works.

My application was RGB strip lighting. I would plug the serial into one of these:
http://www.quasarelectronics.co.uk/8191-3-channel-high-current-rgb-led-controller-serial-rs232-ttl.htm

And run that into my LED strip lights. I could then control the colours and fade etc.

I really like the idea of it but at the moment I think the modules at the moment are fairly limited. It seems they have put alot of effort in to the security side of things but not so much the power/lighting. Your idea of using the serial controller to run some led strips sounds sweet but I think if I was to bother setting up a house like this I would want it to be able to control the lighting. They have the mPort so why not build a 240V relay to work with them so that GPO's and standard light circuits can be run by the controller.
Maybe I am asking too much but it seems they want to crack on to home automation yet haven't offered any where near what C-Bus or Control4 can offer.
Again though, tempted to get a couple of sensors and see what sort of alarm set up I can come up with as they seem to have enough stuff to do this.
