I saw a DSE flyer the other day which had on it's front page, an ad to preorder the Kindle Paperwhite with availability on 12th Feb. No indication of price or how to order though and I can't find ANY mention of it on the DSE site or indeed anywhere else...

Someone asked a question on their FB page about the price upon release next week (so they must've seen an ad too...) but there's been no reply.

I see on their Aussie site that the Paperwhite is indeed being released by them over the ditch on the 12th at AUD$149 for the wifi only version...

Anyone here seen/heard/know anything about this?

I haven't heard anything for local availability, but Kindle Paperwhite are available for international orders for a couple of weeks now. I ordered a Kindle Saturday afternoon and it was here on Wednesday... And cheaper than buying retail locally...

And yes, I recommend using our Amazon order page for that.

On another note, Amazon service is always incredible. I broke my Kindle keyboard and asked them if repair was available. They said that since it's three years old then can't repair or replace, but offered me a US$50 discount and free shipping on a new model. Can't complain about that.

Wifi version of the paper white at DSE is $199, seems fairly reasonable to me given its ~$190 to get one from Amazon delivered to NZ.

I work part time at DSE, I've been checking for information re the paper white since the flyer came out and today was the first time I saw the price up. Not sure why its not online, maybe only sold in store initially? (I'm in the retail side, so don't quote me on anything, my guess is as good as yours)

I suspect it will still be a bit cheaper from amazon directly. $150 australia is going to make it at least $200 - $260 NZ adding on a healthy margin.
While the kingle pw from amazon is about $180-$190 NZ delivered when converted to NZ dollars.

That is surprisingly cheap, and they can't be making much of a margin on it at that price. The price difference between buying from the US and NZ is between $10-$20 (and cheaper if a business claiming back the GST), which would probably make buying in NZ a better choice as you also get CGA coverage for personal use.

The extra $20 will rid you of ad's on the screen inplace of the screensaver. Depends if you care or not

I work at Dick Smith and can confirm that the Kindle Paperwhite Wi-Fi is completely ad free. It's not the sponsored version. $199 is pretty great, it's $187.46 direct from Amazon (just checked myself), and Amazon expect to ship in "2 to 3 weeks".

What's going on with Amazon??? I have just tried to order the 3G Paperwhite (ad-free version), cover and screen saver through your link and I get the message "can not deliver to your address". Can anyone tell me what's going on??
