We're adding Bluetooth 4.0 + LE dual mode functionality to a new device. Since this is a first for us I wanted to get some Bluetooth LE devices to test with. Does anyone know if there are any basic Bluetooth LE devices available in NZ? I'm thinking of serial, GPS, audio, etc.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Those profiles are not what BLE is intended for. It is intended for infrequent packets of about 100 bytes or so at a time. Like wireless buttons, remote control lights, etc. It is so limited that Apple did not bother imposing limits on developing BLE software for their devices (as they do for BT which is a real pain to get any data transfer to the point we added WiFi to a product in order to make it work with Apple devices).

Thanks for the info, but I still want to know if there are Bluetooth LE devices available in NZ!

Search for Bluetooth Smart rather than Bluetooth LE. There are sport/fitness devices in NZ including a number of items from Torpedo7. But good luck finding serial cable replacement or other high data rate devices. Seems like the wearable technology devices is the main market.
