Hi,

I have a Paradox 1759EX security alarm. Got the access code from the previous owner but he don't remember the master code or installer code.
Is there any way I can reset the system and setup new installer and master codes ?

Thanks,
Sam.

Unless he installed it himself, I doubt he'd have the master or installer codes. The only reason I have the master code for my system is that I demanded the installer use my code, and not his. Are there any stickers on the alarm system or on the keypad indicating who installed it? Pretty sure that if all you are wanting to do is change the codes and not a full system reset you'll need to find the installer. Otherwise IF it can be reset without the installer code, you'll need to reconfigure the whole system.

To reset it back to a factory state do this:
Power down the alarm (open the cabinet, pull out the fuse and the battery
There's a RESET jumper near the top of the board, put it on and power it up, it should reset in approx 5 seconds
If the dialler relay clicks 10 times then it's locked and isn't cost effective to have reset

If you can locate the company/person who installed it in the first place, then new codes will be a 5 minute job to do

We were quoted $80 plus the installers time to get it taken somewhere and reset. New board and a new keypad was 170 and is a nicer newer looking keypad.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I see a sticker on the control panel and checked with them, they don't keep the master codes. They said, might reconfigure the system for $95+gst.
I'll also try the RESET jumper option and will also get quotes from other installers.

I imagine that the reset jumper will mean you have to reconfigure the entire system. For that you will need a manual and a fairly good ability to understand it.

Edit:
Also, without the master code or installer code (the installer won't give their installer code to anyone) other installers are going to have to reset the system to do anything with it.

Thanks andrewNZ, that makes sense.
