Just made a bit of an impulse purchase on nzsale.
Elite 550 robot vacum. Anyone have one or see them in action?

They're not really vacuums... just sweepers.
I can't help feel like I would end up standing on one if I had it hovering around the house all the time.

Gimmicks. Good for tiles or solid floors though.

I'm mainly wooden floors so should be good for me.
Dying to see my dogs reaction though :-)

IMHO, they are things to buy if you have lots of disposable income, as a proper vacuum should perform a  lot better (as long as it is a decent one).

Ha - you are of course right but more a case of stupidity than lots of disposable income.
Maybe I could give it to the missus for her birthday :-)

They are sort of cool to see in action, but the ones I have seen don't really do much of a cleaning job, and they can smear a mess around if it is wet. I recall seeing a video of the mess one created after the dog left a deposit on the floor.

Actually, ours performs better than the $800 dyson pet vac.

Ours runs at 11am every weekday. Vacuums fine.

We have both a Dyson and a Roomba. They both perform really well. I like the Roomba better because I can set and forget. Wife likes the Dyson better because... she doesn't trust the robot.

Can you set up a webcam before you do this?

"Here's your birthday present. It's a vacuum cleaner" surprised

You have to be super brave to do that.

Would love to get one and have it set up to run daily. Having a 2 year old is an amazingly efficient way to make a floor messy. Would have to get it to run after she is asleep though as I can imagine her reaction if it was roaming around while she was up.

Cousin borrowed and set up a Roomba iRobot to clean their wooden floors.

It seemed to only concentrate on one area and ended up sweeping all the dog hair into one spot.
