I note Samsung have just announced their Gear S smartwatch, with 3G. This watch actually looks like something I would actually want to wear.
Two things would hold me back.
Battery life is already pretty lousy on Samsung's other smartwatches, so adding a 3G transceiver into the mix probably won't improve that.
Will this device's wider appeal be crippled, once again, by compatibility with only 'select Samsung devices'?

Edit: Spell correct

I have a theory that Samsung are trying to put out as many wearable form factors as it can before Apple releases their interpretation of what a smartwatch should be. The LG G-R might also be worth a look. It appears smaller and more watch like, although the wide bezel with second markings on it might not be to all tastes. At least its circular display is a full circle.

Im an Apple guy, and I cannot see myself being into a smart watch (that may change), but the Samsung one looks absolutely a terrific design.
If its 3G does that mean a new number and plan?

I don't see how it could be anything different. If it shares a number with your smartphone, then you may as well just have the phone in your pocket and linked via Bluetooth. One of the telco GZers may have a clearer steer on this, but I would have thought a separate device would need an independent imei and number.
