I want to be able to stream Netflix and TVNZ on Demand on my TV. Also, I'd like to play Pandora through my speakers. (My somewhat old phone keeps running out of of space, so I had to delete Pandora). Somewhat less importantly, I wouldn't mind having an e-reader, though it's of somewhat lower importance.

There are a bunch of ways I could get most this to work with what I have now (buying HDMI converter cables, rooting the phone), but it'd be a good excuse to get a tablet if it could also do those things. It'd be kind of nice to be able to use a wireless mouse as a form of "remote", but I don't think this is possible with a tablet?

I'm willing to buy second-hand, as I'm not super interested in spending a ton of money. I do however have USD in PayPal, which would be nice to use to avoid currency conversion fees.

You can use wireless mice and keyboards with Android tablets (probably others too, but I only know for sure with Android), although TVNZ OnDemand is still only available for Samsung tablets as far as I know. Worth checking whether the tablet can do Netflix in 1080p also, many can't. Besides TVNZ OnDemand (I don't use it anyway) I'm using my Nvidia Shield Tablet for streaming duties, does Netflix in 1080p and the controller with voice search is awesome.
