So whats all this talk about Fido and keys and Google etc?

Sounds pretty cool!

I can only see the "keys" on Amazon at present

I presume you cant configure a USB key for this type of security, I know you can make a secure key from a usb stick

so is everyone going to have one?

Was this recent news? Sounds a lot like a re-hash of the old smart card two factor authentication.

Ah yes.  The yubikey, basically it's a one-shot auth token which emulates a keyboard.  So you plug it in to a free USB, once the HID driver loads, you press on the little copper pad, and presto it punches out a one-time key.
