I am thinking of buying a Kindle Paperwhite 2.
My concern is finding the newest model (in Auckland).
I have seen model numbers TABKDL20141 at PB Tech and DP75SDI at Dick Smith on-line.
I couldn't see a model number on Amazon.
How do I tell which is the latest model when I go to a store?

The nest is the voyage, not the paper white.

The PBTech one is labeled paperwhite2, which is the latest in that range. Voyage is the next range up, it's new, higher resolution and squeeze to turn the page. If I was buying now I'd probably get the PW2.

Yes I know, but I want the Paperwhite 2. I believe it had an update a few months back.

All I want to try and find out is, what is the official model number.

Do you consider googling "kindle model numbers". I did, found this page. DSE doesn't use official model numbers. The newer model has 4GB instead of 2GB so that's a clue. Still that's a heck of a lot of books, around 1000 books in the 2GB model.

I don't think it was updated since last year. The voyage will likely be the paper white replacement. Some of the ones sold in nz are the sponsored version so you have to be careful that you are buying the one you want

I don't think the first update was given a new model name PW2 is 3rd in line and seems to be a current release alongside the Voyager

Wikipedia should be  able to help but I read somewhere that the kindle and the kindle voyage were the only two eink readers they released for 2014 and the paperwhite 2 was 2013. If I was buying one today I would spend a bit more on the voyage as the screen resolution is amazing, and the build quality looks to be better with page turn buttons
