Does anyone here regularly order from element14, and what are your experiences with delivery times?

Their 'NZ' website claims many items to be in stock for next-day-delivery, but this (as was the case with my latest Raspberry PI purchase) seems to be stock held in Australia so next day delivery is near impossible.

Not exactly the crime of the century, but a little misleading and something to keep in mind when you're in a hurry.

I have bought numerous RPis from them and found the delivery times extremely quick. Has been a few months since the last order but from memory they generally arrive the following day (if not then definitely the next). Impressive service in my experience.

Impressive indeed.  I ordered mine on Friday and tracking says it's currently in the van out for delivery so it looks like they will indeed make one business day (Wellington anniversary day yesterday).

I'd like to retract my criticism above.

I assume your order arrived yesterday.

I'm in Wellington too and I'd say 95% of orders arrive the next day.  In our area this usually means between 3 and 4pm and our local Toll courier is great.  He follows the instructions on the packet about where to leave the parcels and if it looks like rain and they are in paper envelopes he'll put them inside a plastic envelope.

I've had overnight to an Auckland address too.

I don't know how they cover the cost as they send items as they come in to Sydney from other warehouses, I've had 50 cent deliveries as the last few parts from a bigger order trickle in.

RPi from aussie was actually next day delivery! Such awesome service! They even rang me a while after asking if I wanted to become a free trade customer to get more discounts!

So about $48 + GST + Shipping? How much was the shipping?

Shipping is free if you order over $45, if not they charge $15 or so.  You need to be careful though, if you have any "dangerous goods" like a $2 calculator battery they will ship it separately and charge you a shipping fee on the dangerous order.

Lol.

So you can land a RPI here using them for about $55. Not bad.

Nicegear and wavetech sell them for $64 here

I got mine from aliexpress for $35 USD free shipping, so about $45 here, No GST ofcourse

Exactly - free shipping though as it was over the free shipping threshold : )

Yeah. I got my last one from rs because my Farnell password reset wasn't working and they were way slower than Farnell ever were.

Usually farnell hit next day fine but on occasion they don't. Was advised because I'm a residential address and they don't always do an afternoon run to residential.

My favourite (work) supplier is Element14.  Don't like RS at all, hate the web site, hate the trade counter (but I do know the sales manager, long time friend).

AU stock is delivered overnight if you order before the cut-off time.  UK stock is delivered in about 5 days (which is how long UK eBay purchases also take btw.).  Rural delivery might take a day or so longer.  Residential delivery may take 1 day longer as it is lower priority (for the delivery companies).

A friend had a couple of (work) order mix-ups, but I've never had an issue in 14 years of using them in NZ (they were not available in South Africa).

You can never have enough Volvos!
