G'day everyone.

I'm looking at buying a basic portable music player in the $200 ballpark, with my only requirements being ease of use and an FM tuner. I've narrowed it down to these three options:

Transcend T.sonic 820, 4Gb, $172
Creative Zen V Plus, 4Gb, $221
Sandisk e250, 2Gb, $194

Out of this lot, the Transcend seems like the best value but it doesn't quite have the same cool factor as the other two. 4Gb capacity would be desirable so the Sandisk's smaller capacity is unfortunate but not a total deal breaker.

So, I'm erring towards the Creative at the moment but I'd really love to get any feedback from anyone who has used or owned any of these units or similar PMPs from these manufacturers so that I can make a final decision next week.

Thanks!

I ended up going with the T.sonic 820 as Ascent now have it listed for $155.

I've only had a brief play with it, but my initial impressions are pretty good. It's very small and light and the build quality seems okay. The user interface is a little confusing at first but I picked it up pretty quickly. The sound quality with my Sennheiser PX200 headphones is reasonable, though not brilliant, and the OLED display is vibrant but not very sharp. You definitely wouldn't want to view photos or movies on this thing but I have no intention of using those features anyway. At this stage it's refusing to play music that I have downloaded from Digirama but I think I have found the source of that problem so I'll be tackling it when I get the chance. It also appears to suffer from an annoying tendancy to bring up the audio recording interface whenever I exit the FM radio.

So, it's not perfect but there are no serious complaints. Considering the price I'm pretty happy with it.
