I enjoy listening to streaming audio online (classic Casey Kasem American Top 40, for example) however it means I'm tied to my computer when I want to listen to it. I'd like some sort of mini-FM transmitter I can plug into the headphone jack of my computer and transmit the stream over a (local) FM frequency, so I can listen to it around the house on my portable radio (for example) using headphones, without disturbing anyone else.

I saw one of these on Trademe and thought it might be suitable, although most of the FM transmitters seem to be for smartphones, enabling handsfree car usage - which is not what I'm looking for:

Note that I'm not looking to transmit across enormous distances on FM or anything like that, I just want to transmit around my house, maybe covering 30-50 metres.

Do you have a smart phone? The simplest solution from me would be using smartphone + app like TuneIn or something over wifi?

Not yet :( hence why I'd like to transmit over FM.

How about something like Sennheiser RS-120ii headphones?

I have a DSE USB FM transmitter that I purchased probably 6 or 7 years ago that I still occasionally use. Being USB based it simply appears as an additional WAV driver so you can send specific audio to it.

I'm sure you must still be able to find something similar online cheaply from usual sources such as aliexpress or dx

The chances of that one working over 30 meters is minimal. They normally have a range of 5 metres, and are unreliable over that distance.

Been using the original Veronica version for years. Connected to my computer. It has an attached aerial, AAREFF appear to have dropped that unfortunately.
