Hi,

I've just imported an Amazon Echo into NZ and am unable to download the companion app fromn the google play store as it's not available from the NZ store. Usually in this scensrio I can just google around for a download of the APK file, but in this instance I can't find one.

Does anyone have any idea on how to download or have links to obtain the Android APK for the Amazon Echo app?

Many thanks in advance!

The trick is to use something like hola (free unblocker) to make the google play store think you are in the USA.

So:

  • install Hola
  • Clear the data and cache in the play store app.
  • Start hola and ask it to start the play store app as if its in the USA.
  • You will get the play store login screen - login and find/download/install your app.

To revert back to your real location:

  • Clear the data and cache in the play store app.
  • Switch Hola off.
  • Open the play store (you will be accessing it from your real location).
  • Log back in and things continue as normal.

This link sort of describes it in more detail:

For points 1 and 2 of their demo just get Hola - dont know what the airplane mode step is about...

Just install the Amazon App Store and install from there.
