Hi guys.

Just browsing through online and noticed these new electric scooters/segways, I think the official name is Glide Board?

Do you own one? What is your experience like with them? Supposedly there are two different wheel sizes, the bigger wheels can go on more terrain such as grass.

They seem to be gathering more interest, especially when Celebrities are using them

There is one on TM for $810, however they have named it a "Veloboard", not sure what the difference is there.

I think this is the only official website? http://www.glideboards.co/

Look forward to your replies...

I saw them when I was in china. Thought it would be good to get one. Tried one, fell off. I am too unco for those sorts of things. They tend to call them hoverboards over there.

Thanks for the reply.

How long did you try it for? Supposedly it only takes a few minutes then you are away.

Yeah it looks like there is a ton of different names for them. Personally Glideboards is my favourite name, however there are also Hoverboards, Mini Segways, Scooters and more which I cant remember.

Supposedly there are also ones which have bigger wheels which can go on more terrain.

It is China, don't ask, it just is.  The same rule applies for most of Asia, just don't ask.

Hey Finch,

I got my one from aliexpress, it was about 350USD landed.
They are marketed under all sorts of names but it looks like they are all coming out of the same factory.

Didnt know there was a bigger model, have you got pics/sources?

I've only had mine for a couple of days but my thoughts so far:

  • In the office its awesome! (flat/smooth surface)
  • Everyone in the office who has tried it has pick it up in a few seconds.
  • Uneven footpaths are tricky but generally manageable.
  • Hills are a breeze going up and scary as sh*t going down.
  • unsure of bylaws regarding footpaths but might pay to ask (I'm waiting for a response)

Thanks for the reply/hands on review.

I didn't have a source or pictures, I based my comment on a Youtube comment I saw...

.. That was until I went to the website you mentioned above and they have listed the 10" Tires/Wheels

Nice spotting,

The tires look inflatable so should make for a smoother ride, now we just need someone who bought one of those to chime in!

Probably about 5 mins. Keep in mind I have trouble standing up in a dark room without falling over. My ballance is that bad.

Well I am still keen to buy one. Quite a few on TM under closer inspection, all under different names though.

Will most likely be using Glideboards.co

greenbone: $171 nzd shipped

$171?

Says $219USD and that's without shipping..

Edit: Oh nvm Free shipping, 15-34 days though. Guess you need to weigh up cost vs delivery speed.
