Wow this looks interesting.

No ethernet, seems need at least wifi dongle, but it cheaper then arduino!!! while 1000x times more powerful!

now that is cool... personally Ill stick with the pi2 due to ethernet and easy gpio access. but the size and price makes it an attractive solution for small projects where one might have used an arduino.

There is already retro-gaming projects based on this beauty. With power about 1W you can do a lot of cool things.
Arduino still has some advantages, like analog input pins and solid userbase with lots of HW stuff and applications (like 3d printers), but definitely Pi Zero is the game changer.

Not mame :). Mame is pretty heavy IMHO even for old PCs. RertroPie and similar work good on simulation up to Play Station 1 on Pi 2B, so they should on Pi Zero.

the magazines are REALLY hard to come by in the UK today. I had a bit of a look around, but had no luck.

Old mame is fine on the pi. Probably a good use since it has enough gpio for a cabinet and you don't need network for it.
