Hi All,

My keyboard is connected via bluetooth to my tablet. Has been working well for over two years. I recall a pop up box with something to do with a Chinese keyboard maybe a week or more ago. Sadly, I click OK or go faster than I read messages sometimes. Anyways I've reset my keyboard settings to English UK and restarted my tablet but the stupid thing is still typing a couple of wrong characters. Instead of @ I get " and instead of # I get the English pound symbol.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Have looked online but thought I'd try here as well as there seem to be a lot of clued up people here!

Help! It's giving me the s**** as I use the @ symbol a lot and use my tablet on the go, for Uni etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same once, I recall it was the keyboard language - try English US and see if that fixes it.

Holy cow that was easy! I didn't think that was my usual default setting but it must be. I always go for UK because of the obvious spelling thing.

Keyboard layout settings have nothing to do with language settings. Our keyboard layout is US. As you have found out, a UK QWERTY keyboard layout has a pound symbol which a US keyboard doesn't need, nor do we. Correct standard settings would be US keyboard and NZ English language (or UK English language for older Windows versions that don't have NZ English language). Don't select AU English language, as they follow US English, not UK English. :-)

But in saying that, Australian English is heading more towards the US English in some cases and is not the same as UK English. NZ English is not the same as AU English. There are differences.

Of course I did! :D

I can't think of any differences... except the way the "Labor" party call themselves that, and I want to put a U in it every time I see it. Bunch of communists! :P

There aren't many I can recall, but when you get a support call from someone typing up notes or whatever and are complaining spell check is sometimes getting it wrong, changing from AU English to NZ English sorts it every time (except when the caller is the one with the speeeeling issues!)

They're probably too embarrassed to admit they were on US English, so went the old go-to of "oh, I was on Australia, it's their fault!" :D

Isn't it usually (Aussie's fault)? ;-)

Have occasionally seen AU English incorrectly set where I've fixed it on site. But for sure, there have been times that US English was actually set!
