I finally succumbed when my Paperwhite began misbehaving.
You can actually buy them in Noel Leeming now but only in black. I read somewhere that Amazon has restricted the other colours to the US market only.
It's really very good. Eyewateringly expensive, but very good. Since it is probably my most used personal electronic device, I was prepared to pay the price.
It's better than my gen 2 Paperwhite by some margin. The wifi is quicker (much) and the device responsiveness overall is much better. The screen is superbly crisp and the lighting much more even than older ones. Being able to unsnap the magnetic cover/power storage and read one handed is very nice. The shape looks odd, until you get it in your hand and then you go "Ahhhh - that is why they made it look like that!".
I do wish they could make the background white not grey, like proper paper, but apart from that I much prefer reading on a Kindle than a tablet or computer screen.
Battery life seems to be around 2 weeks, reading a couple of hours a day.
If you enjoy reading, the Oasis is the best experience yet in the Kindle world.
