Amazon have introduced their "Echo Look" today for "invite only orders". Who here is going to get it?

From the information on their website:

"

  • Introducing Echo Look—everything you love about Alexa, and now she can help you look your best
  • Using just your voice, easily take full-length photos and short videos with a hands-free camera that includes built-in LED lighting, depth-sensing camera, and computer vision-based background blur
  • See yourself from every angle with the companion app. Build a personal lookbook and share your photos.
  • Get a second opinion on which outfit looks best with Style Check, a new service that combines machine learning algorithms with advice from fashion specialists
  • Echo Look helps you discover new brands and styles inspired by your lookbook
  • Ask Alexa to read the news and audiobooks, set alarms, get traffic and weather updates, control smart home devices, play music, and more
  • Always getting smarter and adding new features, plus thousands of skills like Starbucks, Fitbit, NPR, and more

"

I have to say it's a really random device.  I would think they would push security of the camera not what you are wearing.  But saying that amazon sells clothes so I guess they want to "suggest" new items.

I agree with you Tripp, it seems like an odd choice. So will be interesting to see how well it does.

There is a market for it, especially if you have easy integration with Instagram / Snapchat etc. ;)

I have learned that Amazon tend to be a little ahead of the curve, even if not everything works out.

I would not be in the slightest bit surprised if this was a runaway success, even though I don't have a reason to use it. (though to be honest, when I was single, getting someone to help me with some basic fashion stuff might have been useful as I was pretty conservative etc.

Think it is aimed for 18 - 35 year olds that like clothes and have a blog and social media following.

Mind you, depending on the camera and if it can stream to youtube i can see it selling to anyone that has a youtube/facebook following.

"Alexa start streaming to my social media"

Would I use it? hell no. Mentioned it to my wife and she instantly wanted one and off she went to tell her friends

Well played Amazon I say.

Does this mean I can now ignore the question "Honey does my butt look big in this?".... Ask Alexa
