Hi whatever I did to my 10yo TV (Samsung PS50A650T1F), it's gone into a boot loop. (either firmware update or tweaking the service menu)

I think these would fix it, though I don't hold out any hope of anyone being able to help:

1. hard Factory Reset without using the remote (TV in boot loop)

2. force firmware update via USB without getting into TV OSD Menu

3. there is a 3.5mm audio jack labelled "Service" .......

No luck finding a service manual on the internet.

Also: If anyone wants the TV please take it away!

This video shows a TV in a loop - lower down these comments appear:

1). Turn off WiFi/Ethernet 2). Reset Smart Hub settings 3). Update TV software

The reasoning was that SmartHub is failing so breaking the internet connectiongets it past the boot loop.

What's the exact boot loop. I had an old LCD which I mucked about in the service menu, and it would come on, then turn off about 15 seconds later and restart.

(was trying to fix dead hdmi ports for some devices)

I'll see if I have a photo of the settings menu, but from what I remember there is an option called 'Ready' or something which needed to be turned off.

I'll see if I have a photo of the settings menu, but from what I remember there is an option called 'Ready' or something which needed to be turned off.

Google photos, amazing. I had done this years ago, but tried to get it working before xmas when family were coming.

Try that 'ready' option as a toggle I think.

Upon turning on Main power:

TV turns on, black screen, TV turns off, TV turns on (black screen), TV turns off - etc until you turn off main power, it goes on forever.

Upon turning on main power: see above

No chance to use the remote.

No response to remote.

Not the same as my boot loop then sorry. Thought it sounded like a power supply, and saw this video which looks to be around the same vintage.

Could be burst caps, or as in this one a faulty power switch.

nah I played with the service menu - I think I changed the PDP line (should've googled what it referred to) and now TV is dead haha. but hey it's 10 y old and time for a new one I guess.

I have a feeling if i discharged all the capacitors it might reset itself but I don't want to be BBQ thank you very much.
