Looking for a good and not too expensive chargeable bluetooth speaker for indoor and out door use.

 

All my music is on my iphone so dont really need one of these new streaming/intelligent/speaking devices.

Go to JB HiiFi or similar with your phone.

Turn on Bluetooth and cycle playing music through all the speakers present.

I highly recommend the UE Boom range. You can also pair 2 of them to your phone and have them in stereo.

Ive got the original JBL Charge, and its been great. The newer version is also waterproof.

 

 

 

afe66 is right tho, go test them yourself and each persons taste is different. I felt the JBL had a better range compared to some of the others in the same price range at the time.

I found the Bose soundlink colour to be a lot better than my UE megaboom.

 

Depends on what you call not too expensive.

Yup, my Charge was $300 but that was going back 2-3 years now, new model is cheaper.

 

KMart has BT speakers from $30+ - I wouldnt expect great sound from it, but for $30, probably fine for a work site or beach visit. 

 

 

 

My father picked up one of those tiny little cube speakers that use SD cards for around $70 a year ago, sound on it is damn impressive.

+1 for the Soundlink. Often take mine on holidays and easily fills up a room with sound.  Good bass too.

The first suggestion is the best one, everyone will have their own thoughts on what is a reasonable price, and what is adequate sound, both can be quite individual. 

 

Overall, my experience is with the Jambox original, not bad, sound was ok for the time that it came out, but had some issues in later life with the battery. The UE Boom, I have two of the original models and they are great, in single, or dual mode. The sound is better, but still just a BT speaker, so adequate. Often there's deals on two.

 

Bose I've tested in store, a nice sound, but not sufficiently different to justify the price.

 

Other things you may wish to consider, aesthetics and battery life, depending on your application.

They appear to be pretty  even pricing between AU & NZ at jbhifi. What was the cost on TVSN?

I'm pretty happy with a Sony XB20.

 

IMO the Bose Mini is the most convincing at passing as a "big" speaker, but couldn't justify spending 2.5x the price.

Apple are meant to be launching a high end one soon....but I dont believe it will have bluetooth..just wifi.
