Hey all,

I have a 2 camera set up, nothing fancy, just use the motion detection software in the cameras, however for a while I have had a problem with one of the cameras and cannot work it out. Here is a screenshot of the image:

This only happens at night. At first I thought it was moisture so I dismantled and cleaned everything, made sure everything was closed back tight, but it still happened, so I loosened some of the screws to allow airflow instead, but same thing.

Any ideas? Its not the sensor as daytime images are perfect and clear.

3PM Dome Zoom Camera, pretty sure its a IPC-HDBW2300R-Z.

Whats the image like if those visible lights are turned off.

Yup, and that visible light is actually the IR light of the other camera.

A dome camera? Looks like condensation (outside of dome?) with the ir light bouncing off it,

Can you easily swap the two cameras around?

See if problem says with the camera, or the location?

Maybe there is just dome internal reflection of the IR light.

Maybe the IR is illuminating internal mould stresses in the dome.

What is the image like during the day? Ok you have answered that earlier... good.

I use the Dahua DH-IPC-HDW4300C or similar that does not have a dome.

Yup both dome cameras. I will have a check, didn't think to check the outside of the dome, good thinking!

Swapping the DOME is easy, swapping the camera's is more work. But worth a try. Will start with swapping domes.

Just want to ask what sensitivity settings is the optimum? As my dahua goes crazy with the motion detection at night. It's fine during the day. Mine is set at 60.

So did cleaning the outside of the dome not temporarily solve the issue?

I get a very similar thing with my Hikvision dome camera's. For them it is dirt/dust/whatever on the outside of the dome. Not seen during daytime but over time it makes the image almost un-viewable at night time.

I just need to clean the outside of the domes from time to time with a microfibre cloth or such. Wife came up with the idea of a length of round downpipe with a diameter larger than the dome, some cloth tape placed loosely across one end of the pipe and a cloth over that - fits over the dome and twisting the pipe cleans them nicely. No need to get on a ladder :-)

I gave it a quick wipedown last night but it didn't seem to change it. I didn't have much time to investigate further but I will tonight. I plan to swap the domes around and maybe add in an extra / new moisture absorber pad thing.

One thing I did think off - the camera that 'fogs' up is over grass, the other one is over concrete. Could it just be extra moisture from the grass overwhelming the ability of the camera to cope with the damp during the night?

Conversely... the warmth in the concrete keep one camera from fogging.

Is it worth putting a small computer fan near the fogging dome to blow air over the dome to help prevent the fogging?

Is it recording 24/7? My mate had same issue when recording 24/7 changed to record on trip wire detect and has been fine since. His is Dahua turret.
