Hello. Our new house build will soon be starting so trying to decide on home security solution - simple PIRs, smoke detection and sirens. I’ll be running IP cameras at some stage but figure I’ll run those on a separate NVR.

I’ve seen the Konnected project which sounds interesting but a little on the bleeding edge. The idea of presence for arming/disarming concerns me as i don’t believe it is 100% reliable. And the lack of availability of a SmartThings hub with AU/NZ frequency I think makes it a risky proposition. That said, I do love technology so I could possibly be persuaded....

Otherwise can anyone recommend a panel with IP connectivity and an available API to interface to? I’m running Home Assistant and Home Kit along with MQTT server for my automation.

I've got an aap ESL - they do a whole range of kits: https://www.aap.co.nz/shop/Alarm+Systems/Kits/ESL+KIT.html

It was already installed when I bought it and seems to be fairly standard. They do an IP/App module (~$100) so you can control it with a (fairly poor) app.

They do a $50 RS232 board which allows you full control and visibility (e.g. what zone are open etc) . I'm looking into integrating with Home Assistant via MQTT - but haven't found anything already coded.

When finished I shouldn't need the IP board, and will have something that looks totally factory but is also IP controlled (via my local raspberry pi, hardwired, not a Chinese cloud server).

Please post what options you find, would be intrigued if there is a a drop in replacement. I saw the project you mentioned, and looks interesting but as you say fairly bleeding edge, and software not complete.

I've just installed AAP alarm as well, seems great and had good feedback about them and they are local :)

I have it integrating with Domoticz (sort of working, need to talk to dev on couple things), AAP have a custom home automation firmware for the IP Module you can install. http://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=19494&p=154231&hilit=crow+aap#p154231

I use Openhab as home automation system so hoping I can get a add-on created for that as well.

Thanks for that link and information - very interesting, especially the custom firmware. Would be fantastic if the firmware could "speak" MQTT natively...

Get a DSC, and use the Envisalink EVL-4 board. Works incredibly with Home Assistant, benefit is if you sell the place in the future the house still is left with a working alarm. $200 delivered from Amazon

I'm found the EVL-4 board, but don't know which DSC you mean?
