Hi.

So I am wondering about something smart that would allow me from a sanctioned device, to unlock my house alarm when I open the garage door. I am always forgetting the alarm is set and then setting the house alarm off. Very annoying. I forget often enough it's become an issue.

I have been keen to explore an option to open the garage door to allow people into the house remotely and thought potentially I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Anyone got something like this working?

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Wasn't very clear. My alarm is already internet connected. I can unlock from a smartphone.

Perhaps it would be safer to have the garage door disabled if the alarm is set, so it can't be opened until the alarm is unset? Just adding another idea to the mix...

ETA: Might even be easier to do it that way. Use a relay in the alarm panel to disable/enable the door?

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Apart from the vendors smart phone app, have you go any other control methods for the alarm?  Ie  I have mine being read by a bridge that posts, receives commands via mqtt.

With openhab I can arm/disarm and open/close garage door....i also get alerts if the garage door is opened via remote (ie by accident when disarming the house).  With that amount of control I could put in a rule saying if garage door opened and house armed, disarm house.

Or can the alarm be programmed to disarm when the door is opened?  I assume you open the the garage door via the alarm?
