Friend of ours had some of these at a BBQ on the weekend - they did seem to work quite well, and if you touch them they just stop harmlessly. Anyone try them? For a cheap gadget they seem a little pricey but ... the flies this summer have been really p*ssing me off so I may have to get some...

Seen them in action at a local fast food place - at the time the fly's just flew around them, didn't seem to be too concerned :\

It's the movement of light that does it. Just hang a light clear bottle with a bit of water in it in a windy and sunny spot nearby and it will work just as well. You can even do it with a shallow open dish with some water.
