I've been trying to find a decent wireless car charger for my Galaxy Note 8, one that preferably uses a magnetic grip for the phone.  It's not a deal breaker, but it does need to be a one-handed operation.  And preferably attaches to the air vent rather than the windscreen.

Anyone care to make a recommendation?

Based on the thread title I thought you were looking for a wireless charger for your vehicle.

So did I.   Something I'd be interested in with my diesel, so I didn't have to plug it into a trickle charger.

I'd be interested to hear if you find one. A magnetic holder and wireless charging are pretty much incompatible as wireless charging uses magnetic fields to induce a charge in the charging coil in the phone, so having a solid magnetic field holding the phone would interfere with that as would the metal plate you generally have to attach to the back of the phone for the magnetic holder to grab.

In my case, I use a wireless charger at home and the way I've gotten that to work with the magnetic holder in the car is by putting the metal plate for the holder far enough away from the wireless coil that it doesn't interfere, but you still can't use both at the same time I don't think.

I bought one of these but didn't find a decent place in the car to stick it.  You're welcome to have it, if you're in Wellington region?

You gotta love Aliexpress, don't you?  "The soft and skin-feeling is not hurt your hand." LOL!

Jokes aside, if you are looking to shift it, I'm prepared to give it a shot.  I'm in Palmy, though, so would need to have it posted up here.  How much were you looking for it?

Did you try mounting it on the air-vent, and if so - how did that go?

It's a stick on only thing no air vent mount option.

Your's for $10 if you like, just to avoid throwing it out.  PM me if interested.

OK, weird - the Aliexpress website shows it with both the stick-on pad and the air-vent clamp.  But hey-ho, for $10 it's worth a try.

Will PM you for account details and transfer some money your way today.

Cheers

Hmm, it does to.  Don't remember getting a vent mount but I'll have a look around.

From what I've seen of some other mounts, the bottom part pulls or screws off, and the air vent mount is inside.  Maybe that's it?

I have this :https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Tendway-Qi-Fast-Wireless-Car-Charger-Qc-2-0-Quick-Mobile-Phone-Charger-Gravity-Car-Phone/32910587968.html

Works well, charges quickly. Not magnetic, but still one-handed. But won't magnetic attachment screw up the compass in your phone (if you care about that)?

Rather than attach to an air vent, I designed and 3D-printed a mount that fits into the CD slot on my car. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2943662

I'm very pleased with this arrangement.
