Hi everyone,

My Garmin DriveSmart 50 GPS is having some problems, the battery never seems to remain charged and even discharges as it is plugged into the power.

So I'm thinking of replacing the battery. Garmin have surprisingly good customer service, but they won't sell me a replacement battery. So, I'll need to order one from overseas.

The trouble is, NZ Post won't carry LithIon batteries unless they're already installed in a device. I'm not sure about other courier services. 

Does anyone have any experience in buying batteries from overseas?

(I'm posting this here rather than the GPD forum because I'm asking if anyone has imported batteries for general use, rather than specifically for a GPS).
