Hello,

On behalf of my work place has anyone had any experience with Instachill in cooling down a room (or in our case a work cafeteria)?

https://tvshop.co.nz/products/instachill

If not Instachill can anyone recommend something else does the same job or better short of installing a full air con unit?

Thank you in advance.

A cafeteria is a big space.... you are not going to get much impact from an evaporative cooler,

You also are likely to have drinks cabinets which are continually generating warm air, along with lots of people ( who also are great sources of heat)

From a cost point of view its easiest to first look at the heat sources and see if you can remove or mediate then, then look at ways to improve airflow, (moving air "feels" cooler... then look at ways to cool the sir that is left...

I'd rent one of those portable Aircon units you see in retails stores in Aussie in summer...

So its a swampcooler or evaporative cooler -  Basically it will cool provided there is low humidity, and it will add more humidity to the air.  Not something I would want in Auckland even if it works it wont feel that nice in my opinion the main advantage of a true AC unit is it dehumidifies the air while it cools.

It would be a complete waste of time and money. As the higher the humidity, the worse the cooling would be on such a unit. And in an enclosed area, the humidity would quickly get too high.

Only other option not already suggested. Is get some large fans.

You also have to regularly clean them. Otherwise they become breeding grounds for legionella bacteria and other nasties. Which is why they are called swamp coolers. As they start to smell like a swamp if not properly maintained.

The airconditioning companies are furious with this device.

At least, thats what the clickbait ads on the MSM websites say!  False advertising too, the aircon bosses don't give a hoot.

Portable aircon unit, they work well so long as you can put the vent somewhere.  And they don't cost much either https://www.bunnings.co.nz/mistral-15000btu-portable-air-conditioner_p00028592
