has anyone experimented with making their own cleaning solution for the Braun 9000 Cleaning Station. Searched Internet and it seems to be ISOPropyl or rubbing alcohol plus some form of scent but would like to hear from anyone that has successfully made some solution and that it works.

Refill cartridges are quite pricey so would love a cheaper option

I have my own solution for saving money with my Braun 9000 cleaning station:

- I use my shaver until the battery indicator gets low.

- I put the cleaning cartridge in the cleaning station, put my shaver in, let it clean and charge my shaver.

- Once finished, I remove my shaver from the cleaning station and I remove the cleaning cartridge, I then put the cap back onto the cartridge.

My method means that my shaver gets a proper clean periodically, but I don't need to buy a new cleaning cartridge every couple of months.

The obvious question would be how long a cartridge lasts me with my method - I'm unsure, I've only had my shaver for 21 months and I'm still on my first cartridge.

hmm I thought about this too.

I think it evaporates over time, so swapping it in and out when using is probably going to extend it a bit.

However I also want to make my own solution.

IPA can be bought from Mitre10 which then can be diluted with water easily enough. Might give it a try and see the results.

IPA is great stuff, but you should add some sort of light oil to the mix. The Braun fluid cleans the shaver and also adds some oil so the shaver will last longer.

I bought my shaver in April 2017 and I'm still on my first cleaning cartridge and my first cutter/foil shaver cartridge. At ~$11 per cleaning cartridge and with each one lasting me ~2 years, I'm only spending ~$5.50 per year.
