Do you have iTunes 7.7 installed? When first launch iTunes remote on iPhone/iPod Touch, it will find the iTunes (which should be running on a computer, which can be found by iPhone/iPod Touch on the wifi network) and ask you to key in a pin to associate them together.

Hang on a sec, are you trying to control your iPod *from* your Mac/PC?

The Remote app is designed to control your Mac/PC *from* your iPod/iPhone.

make sure you add an exception to windows firewall for the remote app to come in, and for itunes to go out.  alternatively, turn windows firewall off and use nat on your router to control what comes in and out.

How do I do that? I couldn't find it in the windows firewall setting (I am also using Norton 360) if that helps

I had to fully disable the firewall on my Mac for it to work properly. Put iTunes on the allow list and it should work.

Good luck.
