When we lived in the UK, we had a neighbour with three small dogs that wouldn't stop barking. They would bark at anything and everything. They would even bark at us when we were in our own garden.

The neighbour never took the dogs for a walk and their garden would stink of dog poo. He wasn't too well liked by the other neighbours too

So, we got a hand-held battery operated device that and used it when the dogs barking was just too much.

Without a couple of days the dogs would stop barking the instant we pressed the button to activate the device. After a while, the stopped going in they own garden and started to crap inside the house.

The neighbour never did find out what was happening.

I feel sure I saw a FairGo segment on these sorts of devices and they proved them to be a bit useless.

not trolling you, mate...  but i don't understand your statement. how do you know it reduced the number of cockroaches if they're still coming inside?

these things are not meant to reduce their numbers, but to drive them away, i.e. stop them from coming inside.

as someone who works in rf, i know there is very little chance of this working, if at all. at the frequencies claimed, it's very unlikely to get past heavy drapes and couches and the like.

We had a mouse come into the house once and hide behind a large bookshelf in the lounge. The bookshelf was really too big to move so I bought one of those ultrasonic things from Mitre 10. I expected to turn it on and see the mouse run for its life, but nothing happened. After leaving it on all night and the mouse still being there I returned the repeller and bought a humane trap. For four days I would check the trap each morning and find the bait gone but no mouse in the trap. So I finally bought an old fashioned snap trap and that got him straight away.

Worse than snake oil. There are tests showing that they don't have any lasting effect, in some cases because there was no actual output.

I've reported one of these devices before to the comcom due to claims that they've had them proven by some university not to mention previous fines but they were too spineless to act.

Puchased 2 cheaps battery power one's off trade me aimed at the neighbourhood cats and they were very effective. The local cats that tended to pester our ourdoor canary cage...but soon learnt not to. Cats were rather persistent though, always trying to find ways around the repelents so I would move then into different positions every 2-3 days. Also visitors with hearing aids would notice the sound too.

Are the ones that work on teenagers legit?

waste of money. It may work for a few days, but the pests get used to it and treat it like background noise.
